The Living Dead At The Manchester Morgue
From Spanish Director Jorge Grau comes this carefully constructed and beautifully photographed tale of the undead roaming the English countryside.
Two traveling companions, George (Ray Lovelock) and Edna Simon (Christine Galbo), come across a small-town infested with the "living dead" that are satisfying their cannibalistic hunger on anyone they come across. Discovering that an agricultural machine using radiation waves is at the root of all the havoc, George and Edna fight for survival and their innocence as they are pursued by a relentless detective who is convinced they are responsible for the ghoulish acts of violence plaguing the countryside. All this leads to a gruesome showdown at the Manchester Morgue -- an ending that knots a horrifying twist in the lives of all involved!

A hard to find movie finally given proper treatment - 4.25 out of 5 (4/1/2001)
This film is one of the best early zombie movies. It came out before the Zombie Age(1978-85) that was started by Dawn of the Dead. Anchor Bay has done a tremendous job restoring this film, it looks excellent. The cinematography is some of the best I've ever seen in ANY genre. The rolling hills and countryside are breathtaking-It sounds weird for a horror film but it's true. The remastered audio is also excellent. As far as features go the best stuff isn't on the disc. The booklet and toe tag rep

Finally, a great print with killer sound and NO SUBTITLES! - 4.25 out of 5 (10/27/2000)
At last this classic Eurozombie movie is available in America domestically. No more faded prints or Spanish or Japanese subtitles from the collector's house copies. The print is the best I've seen and the 5.1 sound brings out the most of Guialiano Sorguini's music. The plot has as many holes in it as Swiss cheese but many of the topics addressed(pollution, police brutality, etc.)still ring true today. The extras aren't as extensive as The Beyond but the interview with director Jorge Grau gives gre
